Unfortunately, it seems that most of you are unavailable for the party, so we have decided to postpone it until a later date. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Unfortunately, it seems that most of you are unavailable for the party, so we have decided to postpone it until a later date. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Greetings from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware! We are enjoying every minute of this opportunity to get away from everything back home and have some fun with one another.
We arrived to our beach house last night around 7pm and quickly headed toward the center of town for dinner. We enjoyed some delicious pizza at a local favorite – Grotto’s. We headed back to the house after dinner to hang out and relax for the rest of the night and our first Bible Study.
Michael and I began our day with an early morning trip to the beach for sunrise. We stood in awe of the beauty of what God has created.
We returned home to wait for the youth to wake up and then enjoyed a wonderful big breakfast prepared by Michael and Brian. Later we journeyed out to Midway Speedway for an awesome go-cart race. With much bumping, grinding and spinning out, I think we could all say it gave us a bit of an adrenaline rush.
After lunch, we headed back to Rehoboth Ave. to wander the boardwalk, play at the arcade and do some shopping. Our next adventure was the epic Polar Plunge. Some of the youth took a little more convincing than others, but eventually everyone dove in and faced the cold. I think they all would agree that it was worth it. And as the youth say, yolo…you only live once

;
Well, it’s time to get ready for the cookout…many more adventures to come!
;
Sunday is also filled with youth events!
Sunday following the late service (at approximately 12:30pm) we will have our second Idaho Mission Trip meeting. We will discuss our current fundraiser efforts and update you on the travel plans. It is essential (as in mandatory
) that you and at least one of your parents attend.
Come out and join us later that evening for a fun youth night from 5pm-7pm. We will continue our discussion on our messy spirituality…you don’t want to miss it!
If you haven’t received it yet, please be sure to pick up your flower bulb fundraiser brochure. Remember, everything you raise as an individual will benefit you directly!
This year we will be hosting the Easter breakfast on Easter Sunday which will begin following the conclusion of the Sunrise service (approximately 7:30am). We will be serving donuts, muffins, fruit and, of course, colorful eggs!
In order to help with the event, we would like to ask each of you to make muffins for Easter morning. They can be mini muffins to jumbo muffins. They can be of any variety…blueberry, chocolate chips, apple, pumpkin, cranberry…whatever suits you! Just bring a fresh batch on Sunday morning by 7:00am if you are not planning on attending the Sunrise service.
We will be collecting a free will offering to help in our efforts to get to Idaho this summer for our mission trip. This is a great opportunity to serve the church by sharing breakfast with them and answer questions about our upcoming trip they are supporting with their free will offering.
Please let Mike or I know if you have any questions, otherwise we will see your bright and shiny face before the sun comes up on Easter morning

Get excited! The SHYG will be headed for a beach getaway April 20-22. We will be leaving in the afternoon after school and returning on Sunday afternoon. We will be staying in a home in Rehoboth Beach. All Senior-highers are invited. The cost is only $20. Click the link below to download the information and paperwork. If you would like to go, paperwork and trip cost must be turned in to me by Easter Sunday.

Thanks,
Mike
Don’t forget that we have a youth night this Sunday. We have extended the time to 5-8pm so that we can have plenty of time to watch the movie and have some good discussion. Be prepared to eat, we are making chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese.
I wanted to thank everyone who participated in the SHYG this weekend. We practiced for the Youth-Led Worship on Saturday. We had a great turnout. Everyone has parts, and I think that the service will be a great success. We also had a good group for the Super Bowl Sub Sale. Our first fundraiser for the Idaho Mission Trip went very well.
This weekend we do have a couple more activities to report on. On Saturday the Stephen’s Ministers are putting on a Date Night for the couple of our congregation. Our church community does a lot to support us and it’s our turn to give back. The SHYG will be babysitting on Saturday evening. We will need youth volunteers to be at church from 5:30pm to about 10:30pm. The event runs from 6-10pm. Pizza will be provided for anyone who helps.
I’m looking forward to seeing our youth leading worship on Sunday. We will be leading both services, so invite your friends. There will be a few contemporary songs, a drama and other parts of worship. If you are participating you need to be at church by 8am on Sunday.
I know it has been a busy couple of weeks. I really appreciate all of you and your participation.
We have decided to change the time for the Youth-Led Worship practice tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 4) to 1pm. Sorry for the last minute change. I hope everyone is able to make it. This is very important to me and to the congregation to see you involved in worship leading.
Thanks,
Mike
This Saturday, from 10am-1pm, we will be practicing for the Youth-Led Worship. We have been given the opportunity to serve the church by leading worship in both services on Sunday, Feb. 12. This is an important chance for us to show the church our presence and to give back. To make this possible we need everyone to be at church on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 10am-1pm to help prepare. We will need youth to be ushers and greeters, readers, actors and singers. No one will be asked to do anything that doesn’t fit their gifts. All SHYG members are expected to be here!
On Sunday we are assembling subs for the Super Bowl Sub sale. We will need all hands on deck to help assembling them and passing them out. Be here at 7am! We will put subs together, worship together and pass out subs together. We need your help for this.
If you have any questions please let me know.
Thanks,
Michael
We have an exciting and busy couple of months coming up.
Youth Nights
We will have regular youth nights from 5-7pm on January 15, 29 and February 19. These nights are designed to give us time to connect with one another. No pressure, just fun. Bring your friends!
Idaho Trip Information Meeting
The SHYG will be participating in an Idaho Servant Adventure this summer. If you are interested in coming along please be at this meeting on Sunday, January 22, after the late service (about 12:30pm). This is your chance to hear all about what we will do there and how we will get there. If you can’t make it just let us know.
Youth Led Worship
We have been given the opportunity to serve the church by leading worship in both services on Sunday, Feb. 12. This is an important chance for us to show the church our presence and to give back. To make this possible we need everyone to be at church on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 10am-1pm to help prepare. We will need youth to be ushers and greeters, readers, actors and singers. No one will be asked to do anything that doesn’t fit their gifts.
Super Bowl Subs
Be a sandwich artist for a day. This annual fundraiser will be supporting our trip to Idaho this year. We will need your help in putting these together. Be at church on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 5) at 8am to help with this project. Remind your friends and family to order them for their parties!
Happy Epiphany! That means that we need to take down all of the lovely Christmas decorations in the sanctuary that you helped to put up. We need your help again to make that happen! We will meet at the church tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 7) at 10am. Lunch will be provided for everyone who comes to help, so invite your friends. If you have any questions let me know.
Thanks,
Michael
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the cookie-walk and gift delivery happen last weekend!
The fundraiser was a huge success and wouldn’t have been possible without all of your baking. If your brought a cookie dish and would like it back, there is a stack of them that have been washed, sitting in the kitchen.
The youth worked real hard wrapping presents that were donated by the congregation, and we enjoyed delivering them to Martini and learning about that church. Thanks for your time and effort. I’m sure the kids appreciated it.
Have a Merry Christmas!
To add to the excitement of the Cookie Walk, I wanted to remind you of our service project this Sunday. After the Cookie Walk cleanup, we will continue the fun by wrapping presents from the Martini Christmas Kids collection. We will then load them up and deliver them to the people at Martini where they will be sorted and delivered to families in need. We hope that everyone can stick around and help with this. It will be tons of fun. We plan on being back at church around 3pm, but please be flexible because of travel time.
Thanks,
Mike
Don’t forget that cookie selections are due to Traci tomorrow! We have only had 6 youth respond so far, so please make sure you let me know what you would like to bake!
Following the cookie walk, we will stay to wrap presents that the church has been collecting for families in the city. After they are all wrapped, we will take them down to Martini Lutheran. We’d love for you to join us!
CORRECTION
Thanks to Brian for pointing this out to me but you should be making 6 dozen of each kind, not 8. My mistake/typo. This makes a total of 12 dozen.
Thanks!
Traci

As many of you all know our annual cookie walk is coming up in just a few weeks. It is being held on Sunday, December 18th between services (and after late, should there be any left lol) This is one of the youth group’s biggest fundraisers of the year, and it is also a fun one.
What do I need to do?
Each of you are to select two different kinds of cookies you would like to make. You will then make a double patch of each kind of cookie you select (about 8 dozen) and bring them on Sunday morning before early service, around 8am if possible.
Greetings all!
I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving.
Don’t forget, this Saturday we are decorating the church for the Christmas season beginning at 10am. This is always really fun and a great tradition of the Senior High Youth Group. We’ll have donuts and juice there for you in the morning and maybe we’ll have some Christmas music playing while we decorate. Hope to see you all Saturday morning!
Love,
T-Dog / Elder
This Friday (Nov. 18) Lydia Howard will debut as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing at Perry Hall High. If you would like to join me as a part of the audience please let me know. The play is at 7pm. If you want a ride we could meet at church at 6:30pm. General admission is $7.
Also, on Sunday (Nov. 20) we are having a Ravens’ Game Party at my apartment. Come on over at 12:30. There will be food and a competition to win some spectacular prizes based on how the game goes. Bring a friend!
Thanks,
Mike Hartley
I want to remind everyone that the Christmas Bazaar is tomorrow (Sat., 11/12) from 9am-1pm. We need your help to make this event happen. The SHYG will be selling drinks and other things to raise money. We will also be helping run a bouncy-obstacle-course for the kids. For your time given you will definitely be allowed some time to enjoy that. Please be a part of this community event. There will also be pit-beef, Christmas stuff for sale and entertainment provided by the school kids.
Thanks,
Mike
—————–
A special thanks to Brandi, Brian and Luke for coming out to support their youth group at this event.
What are you go to do with it?
I suggest coming to youth group from 5-7pm. It’ll definitely be a good time.
Additionally, it’s always a good idea to be a part of worship and bible study on Sunday mornings!
Unfortunately, the weather has forced us to postpone this exciting event that was scheduled for Saturday, October 29. Don’t fear. There will still be a chance for you to share your excitement with the children of our community coming soon.
Thanks, Mike

We need you to help with the Church and School’s first Fall Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 29. Here at church, we will be running a few carnival games for the enjoyment of the families that come. Plan on being around from 9:30-2:30 to help with setup and cleanup (and maybe a little time to enjoy the bouncy-obstacle course). We will have a lot of fun and will be serving the rest of our church and community.
Definitely feel free to invite any family, especially those with small children to enjoy this event. There will be lots to do at little or no cost… pumpkin painting, bouncy-obstacle course, carnival games, and much more. The event runs from 10am-2pm.
The church grounds need a little sprucing up. This Saturday, October 15, there is an all-church work day. Come on out at 8:45, grab some complimentary coffee and donuts, and then get to work. Wear comfortable, work clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
I will be happy to sign off on any community service hours required for your school.
This is especially important because we are expecting lots of visitors for the Fall Harvest Festival on October 29 (more details on this are coming).
Thanks,
Mike
Save the date!
On Friday, October 14, the youth group will host a movie night at the home of Brandi Preston. Movie night starts at 7 pm with the movie beginning around 7:30 pm. We should be done by 10 pm. Be sure to bring a hoodie, and either a blanket or a chair, unless you want to sit on the grass.
For food, if your last name is A-H bring soft drinks to share. I-R bring a dessert for the group. S-Z bring a favorite snack to enjoy.
For address or directions please email Michael at mhartley@stpaulskingsville.org
We will be watching the movie To Save a Life, check it out.
In case of rain, we will meet at the Parish Hall instead.
P.S. Brandi recommends bug spray and long pants.
Effective immediately, St. Paul’s SHYG has a facebook page! Be sure to Like us on Facebook for just another way to stay updated on the happenings of the Senior High Youth Group. You can search for us as St. Paul’s Lutheran (Kingsville) Senior High Youth Group or follow the link below.
On Sunday, during our photo scavenger hunt, you will have the chance to search all of the church campus for a variety of items. The only trick about this is that it might not be too easy. So when you come out to Sunday, be sure to put your Monday-Friday brains on, because this will make you think!
For example, will you be able to answer this riddle?
We’re writing you a message, do you ______ ?
We will be starting off this year of youth group with evening of fun here at St. Paul’s Sunday, Sept. 18, from 4:30 to 7:30pm. We will be having an awesome photo scavenger hunt, so bring a digital camera (if you have one) and a friend. You can also look forward to playing some classic games, enjoying pizza and a devotion. We will spend some time talking about all of the excitement to come this year. Don’t miss it!
We need some help with the small playground at St. Paul’s. As of yet the kids have not been able to use it because it has needed some serious work. I would like to get a group of youth together on Saturday, September 10 to work on it.
I know that some of you have requirements of community service hours for your schools, and some of you are just nice, helpful people. Either way, let me know if you can help. It will probably only take a couple hours. There will definitely be some food involved too.
- Michael (mhartley@stpaulskingsville.org)
Update (Sept. 7) – We will be meeting at St. Paul’s at 9am. Come in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. There will be pizza when we get done. Please let me know if you plan on coming.
Update (Sept. 12) – Thanks so much to Ben and Sam Stephens, Tyler and Allen Woolsey, and Luke Marquardt. The place looks great and the kids are really thankful for it.
This site needs a photo along its header. If you have anything that you think would fit well please email it to me: mhartley@stpaulskingsville.org

If you're half as cool as this kid, you'll be there.
Sunday School time is right around the corner, and to help make Sunday School more fun and exciting the youth have been asked to lead an opening session for the weekly Sunday School meeting. Every week 2-3 youth will become expert puppeteers to share a faith lesson with the kids.
It’s no secret that the little ones really look up to and admire young adults. By being involved in Sunday School you will be setting a strong Christian example.
All youth will meet in the Chapel at 9:45am (between services) beginning on September 18. If you are interested in being one of the first puppeteers please let me know.

Did you know that the Senior High Youth Group receives the proceeds from the sales generated by the soda machine in the Parish Hall? Also, we gladly accept donations to help fill the machine with Coca-Cola brand sodas. We appreciate your support as we raise funds to defray the costs of our activities.
